About the Grant

The Leventhal Map & Education Center (LMEC) at the Boston Public Library and the American Geographical Society Library (AGSL) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) were awarded a Digital Humanities Advancement Grant (DHAG) from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) for the project Making Open-Source Georeferencing Technology Collections-Ready with Allmaps (Award HAA-293491-23).

The project has three major goals:

1. Ongoing maintenance and development of the Allmaps software ecosystem, including the design and release of Allmaps Curator, a new application for managing large-scale georeferencing workflows
2. Development and release of plugins for integrating Allmaps into digital map collections using GeoBlacklight and CONTENTdm
3. Creation of a user community that will steward maintenance and governance of the Allmaps ecosystem in perpetuity
